Michael Thonet
Michael Thonet (1796 – 1871) was a German-Auastrian cabinet maker. He is the inventor of Chair No. 14, better known as Konsumstuhl Nr. 14, and it is considered to be the “chair of chairs”. Over 50 million were sold before the start of the Second World War. The chair won the gold medal at the 1867 Paris World Fair.
